Passing the time

The February sunshine has done wonders for me to start feeling better from #5 chemo treatment.  Mentally, January was a heavy month with the covid19 lockdown, self-imposed immune protection, and lack of sunshine.  I had a few days of just sleeping through the worst of it!  I'm so glad that the first month of 2021 is behind me, and I'm looking ahead to my remaining #6 and final chemo treatment coming mid-February.  Just one more to go...

Working on my felt stocking helped stimulate my mind function and lessen my hand neuropathy, and so since then I have been looking for another project to pass the time during these dull days of winter.  I think my new hobby is looking and collecting project ideas... not a bad thing at all.  Pinterest has become my new place to go.  But, it's time to get over looking and get to some action... lol

Chemo beanie hat will be my new project.  I purchased the recommended yarn (thank you Amazon).  After digging out my crochet hooks, it was time to get to work.  This project will be made by Caron Simply Soft in strawberry which looks more like corel to me.  Just what I need a bright colour to stimulate me when there isn't enough sunshine to do that naturally.  Thank you to Pattern-Paradise.com for the free charmed cloche pattern.  If you want to try your hand or share the pattern, just click the pattern link.

Now let me say that I haven't done a lot of crocheting, but I know the basic granny square stitches.  YouTube and Google know everything else, so I figured I have this one covered.  The pattern post actually has videos for some of the tricky stitches, so that is helpful too.  I now know how the magical loop is done.

After a couple days of crocheting, I finished my first chemo beanie hat!  Oh look how tickled I am with myself that I could hardly wait to try out my new hat!!  It is light and simple, and very warm.  I just have to remember to take it off before I get in the shower.  Well I suppose that could be ok too.  LOL!  :)

  1. Fancy crocheting I say, congratulations mastering the pattern, it looks very difficult to me.
The hat is super cute, and your selfies made me smile.
Spring is on it's way Sue, today it was 8 degrees here and as we went out for a walk I said, hmm, wonderful, would it be in Canada, it would be called shorts weather, sure enough a half an hour later we see a guy in shorts. My honey said "he must be from up North or Canada" 😎🤣🤣🤣

  2. Thanks Annemarie! It was fairly simple once I mastered a couple stitches. It sure is a warm beanie for the house. :)
